I wrote this rhyme last night:
There is a blizzard out my window
But I am safe inside
I've got everything I need
Right here by my side
I have exactly five candles ready
In case the power goes out
And I've got my trusty typewriter
So they're be no need to pout
And plus i've got a ton of books
I can read by candlelight
I'm almost hoping the power fails
Cuz it makes the perfect time to write
There is a world
That you have forgotten
And there is another
That you remember
When you think back
One whole year ago
On a moody day
The end of November
What do you see
What do you find
When you search your memory
For that moment in time
Is it something significant
That you keep in supply
Or is nothing and lost forever
Without a goodbye
There are at least two worlds
But most likely more
One you don't care to know
The other you endlessly explore
Yes I'm of the belief
That there's definitely more
A world you take with you
And a world you ignore
Wow so a mighty blizzard
Is quickly coming our way
And to think just two days ago
We had our very first Snow Day
In the prelude to winter
Snow on top of snow
The heavens are hitting us hard
The earth its winds will blow
With the hills in Duluth
Travel can be a pain
And sometimes impossible
And your best efforts are in vain
You better at least have a car
With four wheel drive
Or you may not get through winter
In one piece and still alive
I went to bed early
And woke up late
But now I'm super charged
Today will be great!
Here are Three Little Things I'm Grateful For:
Plantain chips: I bought some at the coop last night. They have the perfect texture, the perfect crunch, I'll eat some for breakfast and for lunch!
Word Processing: It is really handy dandy to be able to tip tap type away on a computer all day. If I had to write everything by hand I would write far less, and it would all be a mess.
Youtube: Oh come on now I hate to add this distraction-tool to the list it but there is so much good stuff to be found that I would really miss if Youtube was no longer around! Here are three cases in point:

Lord Friday the 13th - This is the newest-to-me video. Too good not to share. The lyrics crack me up.

School is canceled all over Duluth
It's the first Snow Day of the year
Thanksgiving weekend has begun early
I hope by evening the roads will be clear
I'm sad to say my gig tomorrow
Guitar and covers at Mont du Lac resort
Has been canceled due to the bad conditions
Yes I am very sad of this to report
But it means I got like five spare hours
Tomorrow evening to do what I want
Maybe I'll do a facebook live video
Into your family thanksgiving I'll haunt

After my coffee as the day did start

I have three gigs this week
Even one on Thanksgiving Day

For my solo Thanksgiving dinner
I am thinking I will buy
Some ginger brew sodapop
And a frozen Turkey Pot Pie
Cuz I am no cook,
Let me say that twice
I can hardly fry an egg
I can barely even cook rice
I eat a lot pre-made stuff from boxes
Cuz my cooking skills are zero
Once in a while I make a salad
And then I feel like a super hero
Yes I’ve decided that I hate cooking
And the time and mess that it makes
I've already got my hands full
Trying to not burn down my place
I'd like some new glasses
Yes I'd like some new eyewear
And I can shop for them at home
From the comfort of a chair
Shopping online for frames
Is how I spend 90% of my free time
Trying to find the best deal
The perfect pair that will be mine
And right now it's glasses
But last week it was electronic gear
And the week before it was winter boots
This cycle lasts the whole damned year
And ya know
It's kind of funny
Cuz the truth is
Time is money
And thus I've spent, like,
Thousands of dollars worth of time
Which I know is not ideal
Just wasting my life away
Shopping for a deal
Here's my weekly to do list
And I need you to give me flack
If i fail to do some of these things
You can help me to keep on track
